James Jeiwen Chou, Ph.D. Principal Investigator
Professor Chou is now a principal investigator at the Interdisciplinary Research Center of Biology and Chemistry (IRCBC),Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry(SIOC)Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as vice director of the IRCBC and the National Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology of SIOC.
James J. Chou received his B.S. in Physics from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1994 and Ph.D. in Biophysics from Harvard University in 1999. From 1999 to 2002, he conducted postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health. Between 2003 and 2011, he served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Harvard University Medical School. In 2012, he was promoted to tenured full professor.
Professor James J. Chou has long been engaged in interdisciplinary research involving biology, physics, and chemistry. He has developed a series of biophysical techniques to reveal the mechanisms of transmembrane signaling of immune and cytokine receptors, leading to the discovery of important new biological mechanisms and concepts.
